Ford 3.9, 4.0 Falcon single over head cam engine electronic distributor for carburetor conversion, this distributor is the type used with Aussiespeed® ® AS0012, 4 barrel and AS0014, 2 barrel manifolds when a non computer controlled ignition system is required. These distributors are a fully rebuilt unit with new parts plus an advance curve that we have found to work well on most Ford 6 OHC engines. These can be purchased on a exchange basis. the price advertised is for an outright purchase without a change over dizzy.
PLEASE NOTE THE DISTRIBUTOR REQUIRED FOR THIS CONVERSION REQUIRES MORE MODIFICATIONS THAN JUST DROPPING IN OR TURNING THE GEAR UPSIDE DOWN.
THE DISTRIBUTOR WE SUPPLY HAS HAD MODIFICATIONS DONE TO THE HOUSING AND SHAFT PLUS A REVISED IGNITION CURVE, NEW DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE GEAR FOR IT TO BE DROPPED STRAIGHT IN WITH NO ADDITIONAL MACHINE WORK OR MODIFICATIONS REQUIRED.
This distributor replaces the cam trigger that is found on most late model EA to AU Ford overhead cam six cylinder engines so that you can run a conventional coil and distributor like earlier pre overhead cam injected engines.
This distributor is designed to be installed with our Aussiespeed® 2 and 4 barrel OHC 6 cylinder inlet manifolds. This allows you to remove the factory electronics and computer controls and run these late model Ford sixes with a 2 or 4 barrel carburettor or throttle body gas mixer like earlier model Ford crossflow and pre crossflow engines.
This distributor is a rebuilt high energy unit It uses a hall effect sensor and Bosch amplifier like other Ford engines so replacement parts can be purchased at most auto parts stores if replacements are ever needed.
The distributor housing is modified and re-bushed and a Crow Cams distributor drive gear is fitted to the shaft. Once reassembled with new parts the distributors are recurved with an advance curve that suits stock, mildly modified engines.
Base timing should be set between 8 to 10 degrees or if you are running LPG then base timing can be increased by another 2 or 3 degrees.
Suitable change over units are fitted to late Ford Crossflow XD, XE and XF Falcons that are the electronic type with a vacuum advance canister. All others are not suitable.
